Privacy Policy

This policy describes the information collected during a visit, the purposes for using it, and the limited circumstances in which another party may receive it. By using Coweta County Criminal History, you accept these privacy practices.

Data You Give Us Directly

Search Queries

A name or location entered in a search tool is sent directly to the outside provider operating that feature. The provider processes the query and supplies its results. Coweta County Criminal History does not retain or log those search terms on its own systems.

Messages and Contact Submissions

An email or other direct message may be kept long enough to answer and maintain the related correspondence. It is not shared outside the organization unless disclosure is legally required.

Data We Gather Automatically

When a page loads, the site's systems may record routine technical details about the visit:

  • The IP address assigned to your device
  • Which browser you are using and its version
  • Your device type and operating system
  • The pages you visited and how long you stayed on each
  • The site that sent you here, if any
  • Timestamps for each page view

Cookies and Analytics

Cookies are small files placed on a device. They help measure traffic, popular pages, and where visits end. Analytics providers combine this activity into usage reports. Browser controls can block cookies, although doing so may change how some features work.

What We Do With This Data

  • Keeping the site up, running, and loading quickly
  • Sending your search requests to the right partner service
  • Figuring out which pages people find useful and which need work
  • Tracking down and fixing technical issues
  • Showing ads that may line up with your interests

No Criminal-Record Data on File

Coweta County Criminal History does not keep, assemble, or sell a database of personal criminal records. It publishes general directions to the Coweta County Sheriff's Office, criminal court clerks, GCIC, and the Georgia Sex Offender Registry. This site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and visitor data is not used to create consumer reports or third-party criminal profiles.

Third-Party Search Partners

Outside companies operate the search boxes. Their privacy policies, rather than this policy, govern information entered into those tools. Each partner chooses its retention and disclosure practices. Review those terms before running a query.

Links to Other Websites

Links may lead to sheriff pages, court portals, Georgia agencies, legal resources, or outside search tools. Once a visitor leaves this site, the destination's privacy policy controls. Read it before providing personal information.

Advertising companies may also measure activity across websites to select ads. That processing occurs on their systems.

Who Might See Your Data

Personal data is not sold. Limited information may be available to:

  • Search partners that handle queries you run on our site
  • Analytics services we use to track traffic and performance
  • Ad networks that place ads on our pages
  • Law enforcement or government bodies when a valid legal order requires it

How We Protect Your Data

Reasonable security practices protect collected data. No internet service can guarantee absolute safety, so a breach or unauthorized access cannot be ruled out.

Users Under 18

The service is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. Data identified as belonging to a minor will be removed when a valid request is received.

Your Data Rights

Applicable law, including the Georgia Fair Business Practices Act, O.C.G.A. §§10-1-390 through 10-1-407, may provide additional consumer protections. The Georgia Open Records Act and O.C.G.A. §35-3-34 govern government records and criminal-history dissemination, not this private site's visitor files. Subject to applicable law, you may:

  • Ask for a copy of what we have on file about you
  • Have us fix information that is wrong
  • Request that we erase your data
  • Opt out of certain kinds of data processing

Updates to This Policy

This policy may be revised. A new version becomes available on this page with an updated effective date.
